Quilt from scraps

Instead of throwing out the old items, save them and create a quilt.

Don’t purchase that CD – download it
Sweep

Trade in the vacuum for a non-electric cleaning method
Catch the Water

When waiting for the shower to warm, place a bucket under the shower and catch the water. This water can later be used for watering the garden, watering plants, washing the floor… Why allow so many gallons of clean water to go down the drain?
Cloth towels

Choose reusable cloth kitchen towels over disposable paper kitchen towels.
Visit the Market

Local food travels fewer miles to get to you. This means that less energy/oil is used.
Reel Mowing

Use a reel pusher mower instead of a gasoline or electric mower. These make little noise, use no gasoline, and provide the user with a great workout!
Use a Strip

Some items still draw energy while turned off. Use a power strip for your electric items such as TV and VCR. Turn the switch to “off” when not in use.
Share the Water

Share a bath with a sibling or spouse. You use less water and may have fun.
Be an Inspiration

Instead of spending money on CDs, learn to play an instrument. You may inspire someone to do the same.
